Transforming Utrecht’s Wharf Cellars
Join Our Project: Transforming Utrecht’s Wharf Cellars
Are you a dedicated and innovative graduation student eager to contribute to the preservation and enhancement of Utrecht’s historic canals and wharfs? We invite you to be part of an exciting opportunity with the Utrecht municipality as we tackle data challenges for informed decision-making.
Project Overview: The Wharf Cellars Renaissance
Until the late nineteenth century, the wharfs in Utrecht played a pivotal role. However, with the rise of land-based transportation, these once vital spaces fell into neglect due to the challenges posed by numerous individual cellar owners unable to fund the necessary renovations.
Post-War Revitalization: In 1948, the city of Utrecht took ownership of the wharfs, initiating a transformative period of revitalization. Today, Utrecht boasts some of the most beautiful canals globally. In 2009, a decision was made to renovate the canals, necessitating significant investments. The Utrecht municipality is currently faced with data challenges related to decision-making in this ongoing project.
The Central Challenge:
Automating Intelligent Information Delivery: Your main task will be to explore how the first information needs of wharf cellar owners and other stakeholders can be answered automatically and intelligently from the yard register of the municipality of Utrecht.
Your Role:
As a graduation student, you will delve into critical aspects of information management, seeking state-of-the-art solutions and prototypes to address Utrecht’s data challenges. Join us in answering key questions such as:
Information Retrieval: How do stakeholders currently access the right information for decision-making in canal renovations?
AI Integration: To what extent can an AI Chatbot support and enhance information retrieval processes for stakeholders?
Prototype Development: How can we create an initial Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to serve as a demonstrator and learning environment based on the existing platform? (Adapted Loki chatbot Kadaster Kadaster Labs. Engine made available by Het Kadaster.)
AI Value-Add: To what extent can AI contribute value in addressing information needs, analysis, and further improvements in registration and exchangeability?
This project offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the rich history of Utrecht while honing your skills in information management and cutting-edge technologies. Apply now and be a part of the team that will shape the future of Utrecht’s canals.
